What is Grief Care and what can you expect from our classes?

Grief Care is a place of comfort and understanding where you can find guidance on your journey through loss. Here, you won’t just be given tips, but compassionate support as you navigate the waves of grief, helping you find moments of peace amidst the pain.

In this weekly support group held on Sunday afternoons (find dates and times in the classes registration drop down below), you’ll be welcomed into a safe, nurturing environment where others truly understand the depths of loss. Grief doesn’t follow a neat path, and you’ll learn that there are no “right” stages—only your own unique experience. Together, we will explore practical ways to cope with grief’s unpredictability and find strength in the shared stories and support of others.

When you step into the room at the My Ashleah Foundation headquarters located at 120 S. Roselawn in Artesia, NM, for the Sunday afternoon class, you’ll be greeted by a circle of chairs and a warm, inviting space designed to foster connection. Mark and Lorraine Richards, your facilitators, will welcome you with kind smiles and open hearts, creating an atmosphere of calm where you can feel safe.

At 1:00pm, when the session begins with a moment to honor your loved ones, each person is mourning. Whether you choose to speak or simply listen, there’s no pressure. Here, you are encouraged to share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.

Guided by the GriefShare curriculum, Mark and Lorraine will gently lead you through structured conversations, reflections, and personal journaling. You’ll explore the complex emotions that come with loss and receive practical tools to help you through the difficult days. As you listen to others or share your own story, you’ll discover that grief is not something you have to face alone.

Each session closes with a final circle, a time to reflect and find hope. By 3:00pm, as you leave, there’s often a sense of quiet strength, a feeling that though the road ahead may be long, you are not walking it alone. There is hope, healing, and comfort to be found in each gathering.

Grief Care Ministry Policy
Purpose:
Grief Care, a ministry of My Ashleah Foundation, offers a place of comfort, guidance, and support for individuals navigating the challenges of loss. Our aim is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where participants can share their experiences and find strength in community. The policy outlined here is designed to ensure the well-being of all participants while maintaining the integrity and purpose of the program.

1. Participation in Grief Care
Grief Care is an 8-week support group that follows the GriefShare curriculum, facilitated by Mark and Lorraine Richards. The group meets every Sunday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at My Ashleah Foundation headquarters, located at 120 S. Roselawn in Artesia, NM. Attendance is open to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. All attendees are asked to respect the confidentiality and personal boundaries of others in the group.

2. Image Release
During Grief Care sessions, general photographs may be taken for promotional and educational purposes, including, but not limited to, use in publications, social media, or on our website. These images will not focus on individuals’ grief or personal moments but may capture the overall environment and group activities. By participating in Grief Care, attendees consent to the possibility of appearing in these photographs.

However, if a participant does not wish to be included in any images, they may opt out by notifying the facilitators at the beginning of the program or session. My Ashleah Foundation will make every effort to honor this request.

3. Limited Liability
Participation in Grief Care is entirely voluntary. My Ashleah Foundation and its facilitators are not licensed therapists, and the support offered is intended to be a resource for emotional and spiritual healing rather than professional counseling. By attending, participants acknowledge that the facilitators and My Ashleah Foundation are not liable for any emotional distress or psychological impact that may arise from participating in the support group.

My Ashleah Foundation will not be held responsible for any personal injury, loss, or damage of any kind incurred during attendance at Grief Care meetings. Participants attend sessions at their own risk and are encouraged to seek additional professional support if needed.

4. Confidentiality
To maintain a safe and respectful environment, all discussions within the Grief Care group are confidential. Participants are asked to respect the privacy of others and not disclose any personal information shared during the sessions.

5. Communication
